Avoiding Provocation By The Name of Religion

The general leader of Nahdatul Ulama and President of World Conference of Religion for Peace KH Hasyim Muzadi in the meeting of across religion`s figure in Jakarta at the beginning of May stated, the believer hasn`t have impunity for kind of provocation. The Ummah believe toward religion`s figure getting fade. Provocation will be end if Ummah still believe with their figure.

Actually, the believer in Indonesia is the potential place for provocation that uses the name of religion because Indonesia has various religions. Beside, poverty and infiltration of transnational religious` concept would trigger the clash among believer. According to Hasyim, if Ummah didn`t ready to face it, it would threaten the nation`s integration. Each religion has some sect in Indonesia. It is hard to create the unity in such situation.

The Harmony`s Interference
Hasyim added, nowadays there is a new interference among believer such as the event in Batu, Jombang, Ambon and Poso. Beside, there is interference in Islamic interference for example in Jember, Bangil, and Bondowoso. For that reason, the new vigilance is needed to create the belief in society about the conflict solving by using the religion approach. He hopes that religion able to give contribution toward the nation independently, without followed by people interest out of that religion.


Religion as the nation life`s frame have significant role in this nation. Indonesia and the nations in Asia have popular as religious` nation since long time ago. For that reason, Indonesian development aimed to develop Indonesian people completely. It shows that development began from the Indonesian people that purpose to create the prosperity society in the world and the last day.

The cross religion`s figure such archbishop Jakarta Kardinal Darmaatmadja, the general leader of Indonesian Church Association Adreas Yewangoe and Hasyim Muzadi as the president of World Conference of Religions for Peace realize that religion used as an instrument for global, politic, ruthless, and economical greedy interest. For Hasyim, the fact should be changed. So religion is able to solve the problem above independently.

High Discipline
The clash among social group often disturbs the development of Indonesia people. The heterogeneous in culture and political orientation makes the situation in conflict threaten. It is difficult to create the development`s man, since it is include the culture`s transformation. Having the high discipline in life become the one of human development characteristic. A mental attitude that make people have tip to face the life challenging and having the awareness about its right and duty, as society`s member as well as civilian. A prototype about an ideal man of Indonesia is the man who has ethos in life without burden the others.

According to Tarmizi Taher, the chairman of CMM, it is difficult to be an honest person in consumerism era because the deep faith is needed to develop self-control. Avoiding provocation by the name of religion becomes the part that couldn`t be separated from development of Indonesian people. The good model of religion`s figure should support the material, mental, and moral`s development. They demanded to discuss the issues of Ummah and finding the solution.
